Frequently Asked Questions

Book Your Adventure
What type of boat do you have?

Our boat, the Paikea, is a 40-foot Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB). It was custom-designed and built by our own Captain Mikal. The weight is balanced mid-ship, which allows the boat to glide smoothly over waves, providing a much more comfortable ride than typical RHIBs.

How many passengers do you take?

We take a maximum of six passengers per trip. For a private charter, the entire boat is exclusively for you and your group.

Where do we meet?

We meet at Ma’alaea Harbor, Maui’s centrally located small boat harbor. You can find us at Slip 14. Our boat, the Paikea, is a distinctive 40-foot orange rigid-hulled raft.

HERE is the Google Maps link to our location in Ma'alaea Harbor.  The link marks our location within the harbor when you zoom in.

Directions: Head to the ocean side of the harbor, past the boat ramp, and around the corner. We are on the wing of the harbor that looks out at the bay.

Parking: Paid parking is available near our slip for $1 per hour, and spots are usually open dockside before 7 a.m.

Tell me about the crew and scuba guide.

Your group will have a captain, a scuba guide, and an additional crew member. The scuba guide will lead your group underwater. The extra crew member can serve as a snorkel guide for charters that include both activities or as a "bubble watcher" for drift dives.  You may request an additional scuba guide for your group.

Where do you dive?

We dive in two main areas: the Maui Coastline and the island of Lana'i. We'll work with you to choose the best sites based on your interests, skill level, and the day's conditions.

What is it like to dive off of your boat?

Getting in the water is easy and fun with a backward roll off the boat. Our crew will provide instructions and assistance, especially if you’ve never done it before. After the dive, you can remove your gear in the water, and we'll bring it aboard while you easily climb up the ladder.

What is included in the price?

Our prices include everything you need for a comfortable trip: all necessary gear, taxes, fees, and lunch. Our private charters have a flat rate, so the price is the same whether you have two people or six. The only item not included is NITROX, which is available upon request.

What type of food do you offer?

Our catering includes:

  • Deli sandwiches (turkey, ham, roast beef, or veggie)
  • Fresh fruit and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies
  • Locally made granola bars
  • Hot cocoa (with turtle marshmallows!)
  • Soft drinks, juices, and water

For 2 and 3 hour charters we offer granola bars and a selection of beverages. Please let us know in advance about any allergies or dietary preferences. You're welcome to bring an alcoholic drink to enjoy after your swim (no glass bottles, please).

If it is a special occasion and you’d like to bring champagne, please let us know, and we will bring some boat-safe champagne flutes.

What is your sailing time?

Our standard departure time for dive and snorkel trips is 7 a.m. because the conditions are usually best in the morning. However, as this is a private charter, we can adjust the departure time to meet your needs. Whale watching tours have various departure times throughout the day.

What is your cancellation policy?
